Four kids on the curbside waiting for rides. 9:48 summer Saturday night There's a breeze in the air you feel straight through In this sleepy little town where there's not much to do. Did they do some window shopping, wandering around. Act a little stupid when there's nothing to be found. Did they come from the movies and waiting to go home In this way too quiet place where nobody seems to roam. CHORUS: 9:48 summer Saturday Night Kids are being kids under the parking lot lights. World seems like an oyster, Mom & Dad are in fright 9:48 summer Saturday Night One looks at the screen making future plans. Figuring out a world where all they understand Is their social standing by the side of the pool In the languid lazy days before it's back to school. (Chorus) Will they stay at home with a movie to stream Or sneak outside once Mom & Dad are asleep. Drink, party, fight - things not always in sight At 9:48 Summer Saturday Night., (Chorus) (Chorus)

Sun breaks through the clouds in suburban air Where residents go through their day unaware Busy getting kids to what they have to do Then it’s off to work and white knuckling it through. Finally get to work after long commute Settle in with coffee and hope for a good mood Go through your e-mail when a text comes in Your supervisor says, ”There’s a Meeting in ten” Find seat near the back of the conference room Hope this won’t be long ‘cause you got things to do Supervisor comes in with a worried face Deadline’s moved up - due two weeks he’s afraid And with these words come toil and trouble The pressure’s on to deliver double As management by stress demands You better forget having weekend plans CHORUS: Too much is not enough (4x) Later in the day, performance review Boss tells you where you’re good and what you can improve. Says if things improve you might get a raise But money’s tight right now and you have to wait. Leaving the office with thoughts in your head. Water cooler gossip seems to fill you with dread. Say there’s nothing wrong but there seems there’s proof Almost as if no one wants to know the truth. Prosperity is nothing but a word Thrown by power so it’s often heard Though it doesn’t trickle down to many people Forced down our throats from government to steeples (Chorus) Those in power say you must toe the line Accept their beliefs and don’t dare use your mind Say “If you don’t love it you can always leave.” Don’t even entertain trying to change things They tell you that the truth is in the bread crumbs When you disagree say that you’re brainwashed and dumb When you wonder why things still aren’t great Those in power will ask why you’re full of hate. Those in power will ask why you’re so full of hate. Say you must change before it’s too late. Say their gaslit fists are a tender touch Leave you wondering how much is too much? (Chorus twice)

Tentative 04:25
They say cherish life but sometimes it seems I missed it. Thankful to have work just two weeks before X-Mas “Cause there’s bills to pay and life can be a struggle As wealthy pundits say that we must leave our bubble. Do the pundits care while they’re dressed up so smartly About those at the bottom or just their cocktail parties Black eyed chatter, discussion as hypothetical As real rights are lost as if they’re something clerical. CHORUS: Seems they want us stressed so we’re too exhausted. Pressing buttons so that no-one can be trusted. Seems they want us stressed so we’re too exhausted. No matter what we’ve got to give it is only tentative Money is a weapon forced upon us by the one percent It’s also required for survival and things like food and rent Try to say what benefits them will trickle down onto us Trickles down so slowly the demand is an abuse of trust Say their plans benefit us more than direct action would We should just stay silent, give a chance to see where they stood Pundits give them airtime to vent but there’s little pushback Goalposts moving extreme right where is the counterattack? (Chorus) It’s only tentative – the feelings that they have for us It’s only tentative – I’m wondering just who to trust Say no resistance - we should just all give them one big chance Makes you wonder if this freedom is just circumstance. Something to wonder in this day and age… One percent is still in power doing everything they can to protect themselves Meanwhile we’re on our own. SOLO So easy right now to fade deep into sadness Must go one step beyond just to evade madness The House of Fun deceives you once you looked behind the mirror Everyday’s a struggle is a fact that’s getting clearer (Chorus) It’s only tentative – the way we see things everyday It’s only tentative – that’s what they want us think and say It’s only tentative – I’m wondering just what to do It’s only tentative - right down to things between me and you. They say cherish life but sometimes it seems I missed it. Dp the pundits care that money is a weapon?

Growing up in a culture where things aren’t always easy,’ Those in power expect you just to be always pleasing For many each day’s a struggle that they have to power through The hard path of survival sometimes seems out to get you. Try to keep up with the news but sometimes it makes the head spin’ Constant misinformation from those who just want to win Speak of how those they oppose will conspire against us Only by being like them will one be worthy of trust CHORUS: Those in charge tell you work as directed Hate what they hate ignore what’s neglected Those in charge say obey as expected If you care act before you’re affected. It’s hard to see through the smoke of manufactured outrage Pundits say” It’s not like they’re putting my kids in a cage” Then tell you to be angry at the people upset about this The signs of our “brand new greatness” is something those “left wing fools” missed. They say pay no attention to those caught in the crosshairs Capturing people born here while many still are unaware But cry about “evil lib’ruls” caring about the border “How dare they link camps to Nazis when guards just follow orders.” (Chorus) Demagogues and rich pundits tell you that things are now great Gaslight their prejudices as if they are love not hate Say if you love this country then you must blindly follow Even when senses tell you it’s a hard pill to swallow Once someone stands up to them out comes the smears and slander Powers that be don’t approve of criticizing with candor Verbal raw meat at rallies perpetuate the attacks Narcissist gloats while stirring up chants of “Send her back” (Chorus) You think times are still normal even as sands are shifting They’re not after your family but that don’t mean you’re winning. They always widen targets if you don’t fight they’ll slink through Will anybody stand up when they come out to get you? Smothering world gets smaller as one percent gets bigger Stirring up hate filled minions itching to pull a trigger Have to act now to stop their game of fascist patty cake Gonna be a long hard fight but apathy would be mistake (Chorus) I know it won’t be easy but there’s no other options Standing with backs to the walls it’s up to us to stop them.

about

If all went as expected there's a good chance this EP would never have happened but since there were a few
curveballs along the way of making our (still a work in progress) debut album, ideas somehow shifted towards
making this sonic appetizer of sorts.

The original idea for this EP was to make it an audio crossroads of where this group stands taking a new
version of a song we released previously, a song from the upcoming album as a preview of what's ahead as well
as a couple of songs just for the EP. However, during the revamping of one song for this EP, the journey took a
turn that, while technically following part of this, showed this release is best examined as where we are now. So,
with that in mind, let's look at the songs.

"9:48 SUMMER SATURDAY NIGHT (UNJACK THE HOUSE VERSION)"
We originally released "9:48" about two and a half years ago as part of a digital version of a double A side
single and, while we're satisfied with it's original intent, we were curious about how it would come off in a
different context (different beat, sounds, etc). Keeping one element from the original song, we shook the rest
to its bones, remodeled it and this was the result.
"TOO MUCH IS NOT ENOUGH"
Musically this was one of the first songs written for the Gotchas. However, as time went on, it remained
unfinished until putting this together brought it somewhat back to memory for a reboot of sorts. Recent times
have brought a lyrical fit .that leads it to this EP.
"TENTATIVE"
Originally slated for our upcoming album, Purple Cables, the song was revisited and almost seemed a
natural for inclusion here. Not sure it it will be on the album so enjoy.
“ACT BEFORE YOU'RE AFFECTED"
A sonic reminder of the struggles we face and the im[portance of not waiting until its too late to take action.

We've tried to keep some variety within the music here while staying true to an overall sound. While I'm sure we
can pick this apart forever, this EP is a sonic snapshot of Sunday Gotchas as it is at the end of 2019. It is a
sonic part of how things went down as well as a reflection of it.; We hope you enjoy this musical experience,

Recorded and engineered by Boone Stigall with the Boconfusasound Mobile at a makeshift studio somewhere near
Des Moines, IA at random points in the summer and fall of 2019

Sunday Gotchas offers our thanks to friends and those relatives we care about But, most important, we want to
thank you for picking this up and being interested in what we do. Without your help it would be a lot more bleak/
We hope you enjoy this EP and spread the word..
